" 'Substantia' born in an unusual way - the author explains - totally out of place, yet perfectly fitting with my way of being. My novel was born from a nightmare. Usually they write novels after particularly fanciful dreams, moments of deep inspiration or feeling strong emotions, but in my case all these elements came together giving rise to a nightmare, that upset me the awakening and persecuted for the whole day. I write from many years, I do it for passion and I keep to myself compositions of all sorts and mountains of notes, but that day something changed, because the nightmare clamoring to inquire as to why he had been dreaming, and I wanted to listen to him. That same evening I received confirmation that I had to dig deeper by friends, who decided to tell about it, who explained to me that when you wake up from a dream, the mind immediately lose a part of the memories, leaving only fragmented images and excerpts of emotions, but if you try to write what you dreamed our brain performs an outstanding act: tries to close the circle that remained open, remembering what you dreamed and often giving a sense of the clues Morfeo. What happened to me? To say it seems simple, because the next morning I tried to put on paper the few memories I had left, and it happened the irreparable! Rivers of words, ideas, emozioni, They are glued to the sheet in front of me and continued to gush out of my mind for the next year, creating a novel 340 pages".

"This is not the only unusual element 'substantia' - continues Simone Pinna - half the battle because I felt the need to give the experience 'complete player', the only words to me were not enough, avevo bisogno di qualcosa che veicolasse le emozioni della trama in maniera decisiva, indelebile nella mente di chi legge. È stato così che ho contattato cinque illustratori professionisti ed ho aperto una campagna di crowdfunding per pagare le spese. In meno di 40 giorni ho raccolto oltre 2000€ con i quali ho pagato gli illustratori e inviato una doverosa copia di ringraziamento ai sostenitori del progetto”.

“Il mio thriller è rivolto a un pubblico adulto – ammette lo scrittore – soprattutto per via dei contenuti, a tratti forti, che contiene. Ma al giorno d’oggi nulla vieta che un diciottenne o una quindicenne provi a leggerlo e si immedesimi in uno dei due protagonisti, o veda nei suoi gesti un suo genitore. ‘Substantia’ è un romanzo duttile perché i contenuti sono alla portata di tutti, lo si può leggere solo per godersi la storia, ma il lettore che ama scavare a fondo troverà pane per i suoi denti: ho disseminato 20 indizi che compongono il disegno di una velata sottotrama, sfidando i più abili lettori di thriller a trovarli tutti per cercare di ‘anticipare’ il finale. Per ora nessuno ci è riuscito a quanto ne so”.

“Per il futuro? Ho molti progetti e devo mettere in riga le idee per non perdermi nei meandri della mia fantasia – conclude lo scrittore – per adesso sono alla fine della stesura del mio nuovo romanzo, un thriller noir ambientato negli anni 30. Continuerò a scrivere perché mi piace farlo, lasciare che la mia mente crei cose nuove senza doverla imbrigliare mi mette addosso un senso di serenità, scarica la tensione in eccesso ed è il mio palliativo contro lo stress quotidiano. Durante quest’anno sarò presente a molte fiere del libro, quindi se volete venirmi a trovare sarò ben lieto di chiacchierare con voi: Rome, Milan, Naples, Lucca… sarò un po’ ovunque. Ma intanto il mio più grande ringraziamento va a Eleonora, che ha condotto questa intervista dandomi la possibilità di raccontare la mia passione, e a mia moglie, che sopporta pazientemente i vaneggiamenti di uno scrittore ogni giorno della sua vita”.
