The Show “The Dream and the Glory, the armory of Frederick Stibbert through his masterpieces” is a tribute to Frederick Stibbert (1838-1906) and his work.

The extraordinary museum that bears his name and which contains one of the largest collections in the world of ancient weapons and armor. showcases some of the masterpieces collected by Stibbert worldwide, through a set up that not only highlights the beauty and the particularities, but introduces the visitor in the cultural atmosphere in which the nineteenth century came the vision, also teaching, This eclectic collector.

Not only swords, guns and armor chiseled and embossed, true works of art by famous Italian and foreign Armorari, but are part of the exhibition also objects, paintings, sketches and photographs that testify to the taste of the romantic revival of medieval life and document the deep interest of Frederick Stibbert for the history of costume civil and military.

As part of the exhibition was also recreated one of the laboratories of the many artisans: goldsmiths, armaioli, engravers, locksmiths, and ebanisti, in charge of the restoration and re-composition of the collections, often true artists who helped Frederick Stibbert also in the realization of the grand scenographic Museum in the magnificent rooms of his villa Montughi, as the amazing Hall of Ride.

In recent years, restored according to the original design, Museum, which was designed by Frederick Stibbert like a journey through time and in distant countries, where every room had been built with the intention of evoking historical periods and different cultural environments, presents itself again as it was in 1884 when it was visited by the Dukes of Tek and by many distinguished guests including the 1890 Queen Victoria, Oscar Wilde, and Gabriele D'Annunzio.

The Stibbert Museum now has about 50 thousand objects, and is divided into several sections arranged on a surface of more than three thousand square meters.
